Abstract This study aimed to treat the alternative conceptions (AC) of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)-12 learners by utilizing a developed 7E lesson plan to address misconception on Gas Laws. The sample schools are from Cagayan de Oro City Schools Division, SY: 2019-2020. Instruments used include a two-tiered multiple-choice questionnaire – a 30-item achievement test for identifying conceptual understanding (CU) and alternative conception (AC) on one hundred ninety (190) participants. The explanation was sought from the respondents, along with their choice in the said multiple-choice test. The researcher introduced Gas Laws, specifically Boyle’s Law, Charles’ Law, and Gay-Lussac’s Law to the participants through the 7E lesson plan. Results showed that there is a difference between the pretest and posttest of the participants. Statistically, the difference between the pretest and posttest is significant. This implies that the intervention is an effective strategy to level up the conceptual understanding of the learners and to lessen the alternative conception as well. This research confirms that the developed lesson plan can improve the conceptual understanding (CU) of the learners in Gas Laws. This further improves their thinking skills, thus reducing alternative conceptions (AC). Future researchers with related studies may benchmark on this as related literature.
