Abstract Energy consumption in residential households is important to consumers. The rise in electricity prices have prompted the consumers for the need to conserve energy. However, it is more challenging for households if they do not have information about their energy consumption pattern. One of the steps toward energy conservation is a real time energy monitoring system which could provide feedback to the consumers. Hence, the consumer have an opportunity to adjust and carry out strategies on how to conserve energy. This study presents a real time energy monitoring and control system. It can be used to analyze and evaluate the output voltage or generated energy from a household appliance. The EnerTrApp is used to gather energy data and store it to a database through cloud-based RESTful API resources. These resources are then used by the mobile web application for displaying real-time and historical energy readings and real-time control of home appliance. Energy consumption data were analyzed using data analytics for interpretation. Historical data were visualized and analyzed using descriptive analysis; furthermore, predictive analysis was done to get the short-term load forecasting of energy consumption and action list was created as a guide for consumers to help them lower energy consumption. From the result of the data analysis the short-term load forecasting has a 9.94% average error measurement using the MAPE model.
